MGC Projects, in partnership with Vanmar Constructors and Chesterman Properties, acquired the site and has developed the project with financing from Vancity Credit Union and Realtech Capital. Upon completion, SFU purchased the building.

18-acre mixed-use urban campus combining the Centre for Digital Media, the Equinox Gallery, a new campus for Emily Carr University of Art and Design, public spaces, university-orientated live-work residences, artist studios and workspaces for industry professionals.

From 2009 to 2016, Matthew served as the President of GNW Trust – a Trust jointly owned by the University of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University, Emily Carr University of Art + Design and British Columbia Institute of Technology. Although Matthew is no longer the President, MGC Projects continues to assist the Trust in an advisory capacity.

66 graduate student rental apartments, a study commons and a publicly accessible café along with other shops and restaurants in UBC’s Wesbrook Village.

From 2002 to 2009, Matthew served as Vice President at UBC Properties Trust, a real estate development company owned by the University of British Columbia. He led initiatives to advance UBC’s vision to build a sustainable, mixed-use community on its Point Grey campus while creating an endowment to support its academic mission. In collaboration with UBC’s Sauder School of Business, Matthew managed the development of the MBA House during his time at UBC Properties Trust. The idea for this innovative mixed-use graduate housing project came from a visit to the Schwab Residential Center at Stanford University. The concept for MBA House later led to the development of the Centre for Digital Media at Great Northern Way Trust and the SFU Charles Chang Innovation Centre in downtown Vancouver.

From 2002 to 2009, Matthew served as Vice President at UBC Properties Trust, a real estate development company owned by the University of British Columbia. He led initiatives to advance UBC’s vision to build a sustainable, mixed-use community on its Point Grey campus while creating an endowment to support its academic mission. In collaboration with a consortium of UBC faculty and staff ‘co-developers’, Matthew managed the development of the Hawthorn Green project during his time at UBC Properties Trust. This innovative faculty and staff co-development housing project later led to the development of the Logan Lane, Clements Green and Keenleyside co-development projects.
